Muriel Lester’s personal papers are now at the Bishopsgate Institute. The archive includes correspondence, diaries, notebooks, publications and photographs, and the papers of Doris Lester. It is a fascinating and historically important record of the Lester sisters’ work in Bow and Dagenham, and also of Muriel’s world travels in the cause of international peace. The contents of Muriel Lester archives are shown in the on-line catalogue below.
The agreement to store the papers at Bishopsgate Institute was initially made in 2011 for 5 years. It was then extended for 3 years in 2016 and for a further 3 years in 2019. More info
